For Dad – FOLAHAN M.G.

There is a drought of words

An utter shortage of syllables

Even the sonorous singers lack chords

To adulate as much as is possible

The only man whom the heavens gave

The capacity to birth me and raise

The silver spoon eluded the siblings

I have no different story

This continually cringed his feelings

Even at this moment, his sight, partial and blurry

His frame lean and weary

He fights gallantly for the glory of the family

The man standing before your gazing pupils.

Strong, Informed, Confident, Godly.

Cultured by a man, belligerent for family.

Suicidal at the thought of his descendant sickly,

Crimson deeds wouldn’t be out of line

If the aim be to feed his sire line

He is one to be emulated

One to be celebrated

In my head he is Hallowed

In my heart he is Honored

Father, that title I’ll fondly mend

Rather inadequately I call you Legend
