But Then I Die

but the i die

I want to be a lawyer
No a doctor is richer
I will rather be an engineer
Maybe a carpenter?
Good education I must get
Books upon books I must read not to forget
Certificates and accolades I have taken home
The cities of the world I have seen, even Rome
But then I die

Bright red lipstick here
A dab of powder there
Don’t I look just pretty?
Not just a beauty I pray thee, smart and witty
Men always at my heels
All heads over heels
They call me sex on wheels
Oh how I live such lofty dreams
But then I die

All the money I must have
Who cares let the people starve?
Vacation trips? First class!
No okada, I must to buy motor
Wealth is all I seek to amass
Maybe even play a little lotto
Would you stand in my way, I am a senator?
Keep talking of corruption worthless janitor
But then I die

I am running around
Faster and faster than I ever thought I could
To avoid death’s blow; that never to heal wound
Death mocks me still; it’s not yet in the mood
I want to escape this inevitable fate
I am but human; I must go like my mates
Tarry a bit oh merciless servant
I am defeated in this battle though my fight was gallant
And then I die
