Poetry Play #3

Samuel Oluwatobi Olatunji and Ruth Zakari

Burn burn burn

Into a splash of ashes, and your smoke

Rising towards heaven like spiral supplicating hands

Brave brave brave

How the tiny sparks of this lit demon’s cough

Reason to light the way to its heaven

Break break break

Break into fleshy fragments

And let the fire burn the firewood of your flesh

It’s time for a flight into heaven’s flat

Breathe breathe breathe

In the eerie seduction of death

Crumbling walls into carcasses

Making noon from night

How miasmic a dance of fright!

Bare bare bare

Bare the muddy map of your body

Let the night beyond your nudity

Let death be lost in this dance of nakedness

NB: Poetry Play is a game in form of poetic dialogue for every poet on BBM. It is a game of two poets: one drops a line or more, and the other replies, flowing along until one of them gives up. Every poem formed from this game will be published here (penastory.com) every Friday. So poets, are you ready to play? If yes, contact Samuel via BBM: 7f5210ec

About PenAStory

PenAStory is a group of young individuals with a passion for literature who have decided to come together to write under one platform. We seek to educate, inform as well as entertain our readers. Also, because we are targeting young literature lovers, we would like to touch on other interests of their lives hence the relationship category and because we all need a bit of motivation in our lives, we decided inspiration won't be so bad
