The Girl Who Came By Night – CHIEBUKA OJUKWU

A mysterious aura oozed from her
No one knew who she was
She came by night
She spoke words no one could understand
I could tell she has walked through fire to get here
Her eyes spoke of fear and insecurity
The more she stayed, the more I didn’t want her to leave
She belonged to no one; she belonged to everyone
The moon seemed to have fallen for her – lying at her feet
A marriage has been arranged between the moon and the girl – the girl no one knew
Morning came
She didn’t want to stay
The sun couldn’t comprehend why she wanted to leave
No amount of pleading could change her mind
A juxtaposition of love and hate
The pure innuendo of a crimson heart
She spares no one
The girl everyone hates to love
The moon died a thousand times for the girl no one knew
The girl who came by night
The girl who left by day
