Poetry Play #6

Samuel Oluwatobi Olatunji and Anasky

The path flowing through the river

To discover the route I was eager

Then I saw my pathfinder

She was my only source of reminder

Guiding and protecting me from all sort of danger

I realize she was my confider

She was salvation and serenity

A damsel born with dignity

She was a sweet song, a moving melody

The remedy of a broken heart’s malady

I believed in the one with a lofty mind

On God did her strength lie

She sought the welfare of my kind

And dared to be honest, not a single lie

She cared not for the world applause

Together along the path that guided ‘us’ to ‘us’

Not by false but by realizing the difference between truth and false

She had an air of difference

Like cologne on her pulchritudinous presence

Behold, she was the beautiful that was born

And made us to make melody from moon to morn

She was my source of guiding light

I tried to test my strength and fought with all my might

I couldn’t endure the thought of her day and night

She changed me for the better, gave me a better place

To be united as ‘one’, be the winner of the race

She was the best because she used to be an ace

She was a part of my life you can’t just replace

Like sketches of the drawing the pencil couldn’t trace

She was the effulgent eye of the earth called sun

The mother of my daughter and son

She was the missing rib that completed me

My backbone, my woman, the one that complemented me

She was the beautiful poem in my notebook

My best artwork that made the world to pause and look

She was the beauty that made the world tremble

She was the damsel that made the crowd rumble

Her eyes made the community crumble

Her prettiness wasn’t all I saw in her

But her humility was what I loved about her

With faith and trust she made my life very much better

Our love and happiness had no bound and lasted almost forever

With strong devotion to our Lord, our Optimum Provider

                I found peace and bliss

Sweetness from conjugal kiss

At last, my heart had been captured

In love’s paradise, I had raptured

NB: Poetry Play, a product of Artilogue in partnership with PenAStory, is a game in form of poetic dialogue for every poet on BBM. It is a game of two poets: one drops a line or more, and the other replies, flowing along until one of them gives up, or the poem gets too long. Every poem formed from this game will be published here (penastory.com) every Friday and Saturday. So poets, are you ready to play? If yes, contact Samuel via BBM: 7f5210ec
