My Stranger Tall And Dark

On a sunny November day I met a stranger tall and dark
With hours of conversation did you leave me with an unforgettable mark

The loneliness of my heart you gave solace

As I stared into an ocean of brown sea on a balcony overlooking the terrace
I wasn’t looking for love when you found me

But alas man cannot escape that which is meant to be

In the arms of others I found numbness

In the grasp of your touch I found wholeness
Let me apologise for sins not yet committed

My bad ways precede me, what I inherited

An apology for a sin of a distant future

When I cause you pain and leave your heart with a suture

Forget not the days of my cherished affection

Bank in the memory of my sober reflection
To my stranger tall and dark

Who lights my path when all is pitch dark

Light gotten from a half slice of moon

When I thee to make swoon

Hold my love not in thy hands but in the depth of your bosom

So that with every heartbeat,  like a flower it can blossom
Can I write life’s history without mentioning you?

Of the days when a smile was all you needed to me win

When other admirers beseech me to hear their hark

I would remind them love I found in my stranger tall and dark
