Someday I Would

Someday I would lie cold and lifeless

In a serene room where silence twitches

Solace screams in a cacophony of noise

A gust of breath only makes things worse

Someday I would lie cold and gray

Deprived of feelings and all gay

You would question if I found my way home

Or if I am trapped in a burning dome

Someday I would lie cold and unflinching

Oblivious to the pain you’re feeling

You river of tears flow too late

The mourners’ melody accompany me to the Golden Gate

Someday I would lie cold and unblinking

Eyes wide open yet unseeing

The decks are stacked

Woe betide the house of cards

Lead me not into temptation

I know the way to perdition

Save your promises of Heaven; trade the trumpet for a bell

In this world I have known hell; I lived it so very well
