Spirit – EBUN DAMILOLA

The silence breeze greeting the market zone

The deaf dancing in tune of the percussionist drum

Spirited men laced in drunk banquet

Hallowed the courtesans in the dry sand

Patiently waiting as the kingdom cometh

Hours turned into minutes

Wallows of melancholy hit deep

Minutes into seconds

Each day blended within

As the harpist orated

The violent takes it by force

The days approached

As time waited to expire

Striving to recover

From a swallowing deep grave

There He lies

Reflecting on the day spent

Lots of goals to achieve

Lots of seconds wasted

Who would they say he was?

What would be remembered?

What footprints would he leave?

Dear intoxicated man

Patiently he lies

Until time blends into null

Quite a beautiful narrative of a dirge yet sombre. It’s suspenseful though enthralling. Keep it up, Damilola: your message is deep.
